A U.S. Air Force Wideband Global SATCOM (WGS-6) mission lifts off on a ULA Delta IV rocket from Space Launch Complex 37 at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station, Florida, Aug. 7, 2013. The unmanned Delta 4 rocket carried a communications satellite for the U.S. military and its partners, including Australia, which paid for the spacecraft and launch services.

A long ribbon of gas called the the Magellanic Stream (in pink), stretches nearly halfway around our Milky Way galaxy (in blue). New Hubble observations reveal most of the gas was stripped from the Small Magellanic Cloud about 2 billion years ago, and a second region of the stream originated more recently from the Large Magellanic Cloud.
